HMRC Tax Crackdown

According to HMRC 2016/17 annual report £29bn of additional tax was collected as a result of its crackdown on tax dodgers.

HMRC also reported its seventh consecutive year of of record tax levels with total tax revenue of £574.9bn

HMRC chief executive Joe Thompson said “We have also strengthened our grip on the minority who deliberately try to cheat the system and continue to pursue those who refuse to pay what they owe, on behalf of the honest majority”

As more and more people are being taken to court HMRC continue to look to increase the revenues from aggressive tax avoidance, evasion and organised crime.
