July 18th, 2019 | News | By Tim Mogford

Future Asset Management LLP are well-established, award winning Financial Planners based in close proximity to the Ford Factory in Bridgend.

We are offering a free one hour consultation for any employees affected by the recent redundancy news. During the meeting we can discuss your current financial situation and provide information on your redundancy payments and any previous or existing pension schemes.

We will be able to assist with any employees to establish the best route to retirement given the changes to their circumstances after Ford’s decision to close its site in Bridgend by Autumn 2020.

Employees have been provisionally informed of the following regarding their Ford pensions:

  1. Employees aged 55 or above at the date of separation will be eligible to leave the company with an immediate non-actuarially reduced pension*
  2. Employees aged 45-55 at the date of separation will be eligible to leave the company with non-actuarially reduced pension payable from the minimum retirement age (currently 55)*
  3. Employees under age 45 at the date of separation will be eligible to a preserved pension payable at aged 65*

Ford Bridgend Engine Plant

  • Opened in 1980
  • Currently produces 750,000 engines per annum
  • 1,700 workers
  • Average salary of £45,000
  • £3.3 billion value to Welsh economy over 10 years

The closure has been blamed on an imminent end to a contract with Jaguar Land Rover as well as a global decline in demand for the specific engines made at the Ford Bridgend site.**
